Have you experienced any of the following?
- Persistent or worsening big toe pain after Cartiva surgery
- Feeling that the implant has shifted or settled
- Stiffness in the joint
- Swelling that does not go away
- A grinding or popping sensation in the toe
- Recommendation for revision or fusion surgery
- Implant was removed
If any of these apply to you, you may qualify for the federal Cartiva MDL.
What you may not know
The Cartiva Synthetic Cartilage Implant was recalled by Stryker in October 2024 after evidence emerged that it failed at rates far higher than the manufacturer originally disclosed. Failure rates as high as 64% have been reported in some studies.
Patients are filing lawsuits in federal court. The cases were consolidated into MDL 3172 in February 2026. Earlier filers tend to be better positioned in mass tort litigation, which is why time matters.
